Second to last post!

Hey everyone,
Sooo, I got sick again. My Doctor said it was normal for some girls to feel like it is working and then keep getting sick like this. Do NOT ignore the pain and sickness. Many things could go wrong and that could affect your chances of having kids later on in life in a negative way!

She told me to expect odd discharged, but if I get a fever or dizzy that I should go to the ER ASAP. I have 3 medications to take, and I got a shot... All are to get rid of and prevent future infections.

So far I have to say I feel better. My body stopped trying to tense us around the IUD, and luckily I wasn't so infected that she wasn't okay to take it out. -She said in some cases it is better to leave it in while you take the medication and then come back and get it removed; especially if you are extremely sensitive and/or sore. I just felt the sick coming back so I wasn't in as much pain as last time.

TMI WARNING!
Some girls say it feels like when you are pulling out a tampon. Uhmm... It was pretty close to that. I felt pressure, and then it sort of popped and was out. Kind of made me think of that scene in The Amazing Spiderman, yea... Weird. Also, I think I made that same face! :P

Out of curiosity I did look at my IUD after if was out. It was bigger than I thought. O.O I was too nervous to look at the long stick thing that they use to insert it, so I new it was my only real chance to see. It looked about 1.5 inches long, and I preferred my strings to be longer since I'm not sexually active and want to be sure it is still in place.
Their photo is pretty accurate, you just have to imagine how long the strings are. Mine were longer than the ones in the photo, actually I'm willing to say almost twice as long. Some girls like them short, or their partners complain... *rolls eyes* its not for them anyways. However, be sure to ask that they take a little off at a time because most stories I read say they were cut way short and that is what leads to needing real surgery to remove it.

As of tomorrow I will be on the birth control pill... Again... I am hoping this new one will help keep my period in check. I will post my final entry once I am no longer sick. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe female life! (:

All better!

I took all of my medicine and saw my doctor today. Everything is back to normal and I'm not having the super painful cramps anymore. I stopped taking them halfway through the two weeks and I should have kept taking them... I took two at once this week to make up for the lost time- it doesn't say not to, because you take two a day anyways, but I recommend eating before it because I got majorly sick in less than 30 minutes after downing two at once today.
They said unless I have more issues or have questions I wont need to go back in for another six months! (:

Doctor Visit

I went to the doctor today! I told her what was wrong (highlighted in my last post) and she looked at it. She talked about pulling it out and giving me a shot every 3 months instead. She actually looked at me, started to get ready to take it out, and stopped. I guess what she saw and by how I said it hurt she realized it was infected like I thought.
She said not to worry- it doesn't look bad and it explains my cramps. It was most likely irritated and got infected when the other doctor pushed it back into place.
I will be on medication for two weeks and then see go back in in another two weeks. If I'm still hurting she would like to revisit the pulling it out and trying the shots.

I guess, just be sure to stay clean! Wash all hands before touching, keep partners clean and self clean, and be sure to talk to your doctors! I've been 1+ month with the pain and infection with nothing to be worried about now that she has seen it.

Also, while there she let me know removal is easy but not to do it yourself in case something goes wrong. So please remember that! (:

Sick...

Okay! I'm updating from the last post.
I have a doctor appointment on Dec 19th.
TMI WARNING!
I'm having pain and abnormal discharge for myself. There is some pain doing everyday things like sitting, laying down, and bending over. My strings are still there but my uterus feels swollen/different to me. I thought I was going to update saying my period has lasted to long- but I realized it isn't blood.
I got a *little* worried and of course my symptoms are under the "Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:" ... Just so everyone has a copy-
  • severe cramps or pelvic pain
  • extreme dizziness, feeling like you might pass out
  • heavy or ongoing vaginal bleeding, vaginal sores, vaginal discharge that is watery, foul-smelling discharge, or otherwise unusual
  • severe pain in your side or lower stomach
  • pale skin, weakness, easy bruising or bleeding
  • fever, chills, or other signs of infection
  • pain during sexual intercourse
  • sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body
  • sudden or severe headache, confusion, problems with vision, sensitivity to light
  • jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
  • signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Less serious side effects may include:
  • irregular menstrual periods, changes in bleeding patterns or flow
  • breakthrough bleeding, or heavier menstrual bleeding during the first few weeks after device insertion
  • back pain
  • headache, nervousness, mild dizziness
  • nausea, vomiting, bloating
  • breast tenderness or pain
  • weight gain, acne, changes in hair growth
  • mood changes, loss of interest in sex
  • mild itching, skin rash, or
  • puffiness in your face, hands, ankles, or feet.
  • (More info at http://www.rxlist.com/mirena-side-effects-drug-center.htm)
Highlighted things are what I have. Just a heads up- Your doctor won't actually worry about a good handful of these until you are past 6 months. If you are having major pain DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE 6 MONTH WAIT! Your doctor will have to see you if you go in.

I will update after my appointment or sooner if something goes wrong.
Have a good week!

Hello again (:

Well it has been awhile since my last post. Everything is in place and my periods are super lite!
*I haven't used anything other than super thin pantie (panty?) liners since it was pushed back into place.
*However, my last period was over two weeks long and just "spotting"

I still get random cramps, but sometimes they hurt a bunch! I took different medicines until they stopped working and saw my DR. She said it was normal to cramp and not to worry... However, I have considered getting it out early because sometimes I can NOT handle it.

Some girls get pain that is supposedly like having contractions and I was told by some other girls that it sounds like that is what is happening to me. I've never been pregnant so I really couldn't tell you anything other than it HURTS at random times, anywhere. /:

I've had to stop in the store with my mom and just cry, or lean the chair in the car all the way back so it is forced to stretch out...

I was told the pain would be gone in my 6 months but I also know my body is weak and I take longer to heal. My mom is a little worried also.
I still have my 1 year appointment (may 2014), but like I've said, I've been considering getting it taken out sooner.

--
On a side note-
Some girls have decided to take it out themselves either on accident, wanting a baby, or because of pain. I fully understand the pain one but I'm far too worried that I'd hurt myself. I do not recommend doing it yourself. If you're hurting go see your DR! That is what they are for.
--
Another side note-
My insurance covered getting it put in, however, I was told that if I got out I may not be covered for anymore family planning. Things keep changing so be sure you're covered and know everything you need to!

Thank you all for stopping by! I'll update when I feel the need to ;)
And as always, feel free to ask questions!

So I haven't hurt and everything is in place; however I have been "spotting" for over a week... I know its normal just annoying and thought I would let you know it probably WILL happen to you. (:

Woot!

Woo-Hoo! Went in for my check-up after surprise surgery and everything looks good! My Doctor told me that not only did it look good, it was in the right place, and shouldn't be trying to push out anymore.

I've been having a LOT more random cramps but she says it is normal. I have had to move up to using a Menstrual Complete Medication because my Ibuprofen just wasn't working. Spotting every now and then. I just had my time of the month- it was almost two weeks but it was extremely light the whole time.

Left the Doctor with a "See you in a year!" so hopefully everything will be okay and I wont need to be back sooner!

I of course will TRY to keep this active but now that it is settling there wont be much to talk about. If anyone wants an update or has any questions just ASK in the comments (:
